Javascript submit form-$20 per hour and quote how long it takes to make the form work

    Hi,

Javascript submit form won’t work-$20 per hour and you would have to quote how long it takes to make the form work.

I have a problem with a submit form in that it does not submit, I think because there is another form on the page whose action is to work out various inputted variables and give an answer on the page when entered, which it does.

But the next form (form2) is a submit form to a .pl file on my server in the cgi-bin. All the variables on the .pl and server settings are correct but I think it is the other form which is not allowing it to work. There is also a mistake in the html on line 11 which might affect it, I don’t know.

Does anyone have any ideas? I would pay $20 per hour and you would have to quote how long it takes to make the form work. You can try submitting to see where the error is.

Here is the page in question:

    http://www.exigotranslations.com/order.htm

It comes up with error message:

    Error: No Recipient
There was no recipient address specified in the data sent to FormMail. Please make sure you have filled in the recipient form field with an e-mail address that has been configured in either @recipient_addresses or in @recipient_domains. More information on filling in recipient form fields and variables can be found in the README file.

And the @recipient_addresses in my .pl script file is filled out with my address. I tested it with a diferent page: www.exigotranslations.com/test.html and the it all works fine. Somehow I think it must be the other form on the page.

    Thanks,

    Richard

    your problem could be here:
    <input type=hidden name"recipient" value="rwelchman@exigotranslations.com"/>

you're missing an = eg. name = "recipient"

    Hi Nancy,

Thanks, it was that, I have been trying to figure it out for ages and just didn't see the error. Do you want something for your troubles?

Also having mended the problem, I have noticed that the attach comand on the form does not send me a file but a description of the file name and its location. Do you know of any .pl scripts that allow for this? (mine is from Matt Wright) or is there an error in my html?

Also when receiving the submit, the select menu, it gives me the option value and not the word that appears published in the html, any ideas how I can get the word that appears on the form instead of the option value? Again, I can give you something for this.

    Thanks,

    Richard

Dont worry about it, only took 2 minutes to spot the error.

For your file upload the form encoding needs to be multipart/form-data eg.
    <form encoding = "multipart/form-data" ..etc

For your dropdowns you have to put in the 'value' attribute whatever data you want to come through in the form. They dont have to be numbers, you can put pretty much anything there.

    Hi Nancy,

thanks, just didn't think about changing the values, as I have parts of the form for another form which calculates and needed the values for that. I have now changed them.

I also changed the enctype to multipart/form-data for the file upload but now get an error message.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,

    Richard

What does the error say? Is your form mail script setup to handle attachments?
I had a try and I got the no-recipient error again but I thought that was fixed by fixing your recipient field.

    Hi,

Yeah, the enctype has now started that recipient error message. The enctype looks okay in the tag.

Maybe my formmail script, which is the ordinay Matt Wright script (.pl) isn't set up for handling attachments. Do you know of any free scripts that do?

    What do you think?

    Thanks,

    Richard

    Hi,

No, just as a cgi and perl folder. Thanks anyway, will try and look for a script for it.
