    with/without www

    Dear Expert,

I have added a sub-domain to my domain. But there is a different results when I add www to the URL. For example, when I type http://XXX.yyyyy.com and http://www.XXX.yyyy.com the results is different. xxx is the sub-domain and yyyy is the domain. http://www.xxx.yyyy.com will show the page of www.yyyy.com.

Moreover, many times, the web sites stored in the server of hosting company will changed. They said that there is a proxy server of my server provider of internet but their fault. Is it right?

    Thanks

    hkgray,
    Dear Expert
I'm not that, but I don't think that the proxy server would create this effect. The proxy would normally use the URL to index into its cache (assuming that it has it enabled) and then forward the requested URL to the named server. I would be very surprised to find that the proxy was mashing the host name protion of the URL into another name!

Is the sub-domain a new addition to the higher level domain? If so, can I suggest that you check the configuration of the sub-domain to make sure that the address of the sub-domain's www isn't refering to the higher domains www server.

    Sub domain & domain

    Dear Mr. Fiveside,

Could you advise how to check that? I just add a sub-domain with directory of the same name.

    Thanks
