    Server Side Include

    Hello,

    The server I'm developing for does not support .php or .asp so I am using the .shtml SSI method:

    <!--#include virtual="menu.txt" -->

    which is included into an .shtml file. It all works fine, except when I try to use an absolute path for the include file, i.e:

    <!--#include virtual="htttp://www.mysite.com/menu.txt" -->

    When that is ran I get the following error:

    "[an error occurred while processing this directive] "

    I usually use .php for all my SSI, which has no problem with absolute paths. Has anyone experienced a similiar problem while using the .shtml method for Server Side Includes?

    Thanks!

    Well, first make sure you're not actually using htttp, then try using the file attribute instead of virtual.

    Thanks for the reply.

    Yes, I am actually using http in the file (typo only in the message), I tried using the file attribute and received the same result.

    Can you post more code? And perhaps a link to your site?

    i thought you had to post a physical path such as C:/website/menu.txt .. ive never seen it used with http://..../menu.txt but then i dont use shtml

    i know at least in asp, virtual is an absolute physical path and file is a relative physical path

    Hemebond - What other code would be useful?

    The link to the site is:

    http://www.outshinewebdesign.com/GIG/home.shtml

    Ghell - The problem is I don't have a web server on my machine, I'm testing this on a normal web server, so I don't think I can use a absolute path like:

    C:\site\etc
