    what OS are you running

    i seem to come across lots of differences in serverside programming depending on OS. i just tried to make a server with PHP on WIN98 and, after failing; i was told that sockets on windows was to shakey on windows. what OS do you people run?

    Well, I use more than one OS;

    I voted WinXP, because I use this one most, but I also use Win98 and Linux (RedHat and Slackware)

    I refuse to use XP because of stories of them trying to monoplize stuff... I want to go with 2000 since i dont play games and wont need DirectX features

    I'm actually surprised at the number of XP users ... I thought it was much less than that proportion.

    Do like XP very much ... it's generally my favourite Windows .. but I do sometimes yearn for the relative stability of 2K

    2000 has most of the DirectX features of XP. I use it to play games on all the time. As do several of my friends.
