    Checking the remote server

    Hi All,

Does anyone have (or know of) a simple application/script that just pings a web server once per minute and pops up an alert if it doesn't get a response? I need to keep a constant eye on my web server.

    Regards

    Gary

    Hi Celtboy,

Thanks for the link. I have also found these which may be of interest to you:

    https://www.ipcheck-server-monitor.com

    http://www.server-monitoring.co.uk

They both offer either a free trial or a free 'lite' account.

    http://website-monitoring.org

These guys have a freeware monitoring script you run from any PC.

    Regards

    Gary

This is overkill, but Nagios is a tool built for that. http://sourceforge.net/projects/nagios/

You can get pages and email when a server stops responding to a ping or when the webserver stops serving pages. It's meant for large groups of servers and it's probably a more involved setup process than you are looking for.
