    .htaccess help

Im trying to make a certain part of my site user/password protected but its not working for me.
I can get it all set up so it opens up saying for me to put the name and password in BUT it keeps telling me that they arn't right. I used a online encryption thing to do the password for me and i put what it told me to in the .htpasswd file but it wont work.
Any idea's why, and any help for me to get this to work would be great.
    Thanks

Have you tried it first without encrypting the password? If it works without encrypting then the problem is with the encryption. If so then see this thread.

    ' htpasswd '

If not then you should post what you have in your .htaccess file

I'm not sure if the order matters but it should be in this order

    AuthType Basic
    AuthName "Password_Required"
    AuthUserFile /slsnsns/staff/.htpasswd
    require valid-user

other than that make sure that is the correct path to your .htpasswd file and that the .htpasswd file does contain a username:password line in it like so:

    username:password
