    Suitability of ProgreSQL

I am familiar with MySQL and feel it's a good db with probably longevity. However I have a limit of 2 MySQL databases so decided to install phpBB (a GPL BB much like vB and Invision) on ProgreSQL. I don't know much about this one at all.

Is it likely to have decent longevity or have a made a mistake installing that way?

Longevity ? What do you mean by that? Do you mean if it is a project that will stay alive for a few more years?

Anyway, PostgreSQL is more a real database, compaired to mySQL which obviously lacks some db-functionalitys (like stored procedures) and i think it is the most dynamical open source db-project.
There is ratrher large comunity supporting it so i don't think it'll disappear all of asudden.

+ it's realy completely free without any strings attached, which no longer is true for mySQL. I think PostgreSQL will gain in popularity since mySQL seems to become more and more a commercial product.
    But maye i'm wrong.
