? about perl and PHP, which is better and why.

    Hello,

I starting to plan for a website, but wondering which server-side language should i go with, Perl or PHP.

So far I plan on having forms, updating pages, E-Postcard section, I also want to obtain information about the user and store them in a file or email me it. And have XML content.

In the far future I believe a database will come in handy. and we would like to have a user review section.

Out of what I have mentioned which would you use?

Is one better than the other and if so why. I know perl a little more than novice level. I've seen PHP but havn't coded anything in it.

    THanks

The answer of which is best is best answered by understanding which your hosting server supports. If it supports both then the question becomes whether you expect to be hosting a large amount of traffic or not. The more traffic you expect the better PHP will be for you but you'll need a fair amount of traffic in the first place (hundreds of hits a minute) for it to make a noticable difference. If you don't expect that much traffic then the only questions are which will you feel more comfortable coding in and whether you want to try something new or not.
