    Server down message

Anyway to put a something using i would guess a settimeout where I would show a message on my page if it hangs (due to server being down) for more than 2 minutes?
Right now when our NT server is down my page just keeps hanging for 10 to 15 minutes. I was hoping to do some sort of timeout where it would kick in after 2 minutes and give me an error page with a specific message saying "our web server is not available".

Please advise how I can do this?

You'd have to redirect your domain to a different webserver.

However since it would have a different IP addy, it usually takes 24-48 hours for all the DNS servers on the net to reflect the change... and hopefully your server won't be down for that long... don't know what you could do.

Unless, when you say "the server is down" is it for site maintanance? Or is it actually offline?

Cuz if its just down for maintanance, then you could just point the server software to a different set of files that would have that messsage.
