    Tomcat config?

    I have installed Tomcat in my system with jdk1.3 and tomcat 4.1. why is it that when i typed http://localhost there apeared some dns error and i cant see the tomcat intro? Is there a program that acts like a tomcat?

    Remember, tomcat runs, by default, on port 8000, so your URL must be http://localhost:8000/

    well, i changed the config to localhost only, well it doesnt matter now, miraculously i only set a path to catalina and i think that does the problem of why i cant see anything if i typed localhost. thanks for the help

    dont mean to nitpick but Tomcat 4.1 runs on 8080 default and the readme really steps out the installation quite well

    if your not running any other services you can run on port 80 which will save you specifying the port in all your url's
