    .htaccess and Google cache

I have installed a .htaccess file to prevent hot linking to images on my server.

How can I allow Google's cache file to properly display. The best I've been able to do is have page load without images.

You're talking about a search run on Google and somebody views the cached version rather than direct links, correct?

And if so, all you can get is a page of x'ed images? Try adding in Google as one of your allowed referrers that can see your images. (Though I typically disable google from caching any content, though this is primarily a business concern and not a personal-site concern)

I do as well; considering that a lot of business users, still, are relative novices to the internet, and may not realise that Google's cached version is different.

Thank you for your help. I did try allowing Google access, but can't seem to get the http address correct. In my case, I'd would like their cached page to display, but will abandon that for now.

I guess it's time to hit the books!

Any suggested resourses for understanding how to allow Google cache pages access through .htaccess?

    Thanks again,
    Michael

    Ah Ha!

I used the numeric address, rather than "google.blah, blah".

I don't know if that is the correct road to take, but it works until I find something else.

    Thanks again,
    Michael
