Basic help setting up Access database

Hello I have never used a database before, but I really want to create a site that uses a database so that my site has more power. What I want to do is set up a very basic database in Microsoft Access so that I can just get a feel of how a database works. Could someone help me create something simple? I have no idea were to begin and I have looked on the internet for references but can't find anything really basic.
    Thanks.

Here, I will give an example of something I would like to do. How would I use Access to create a very basic database so that I could type my name in a form on my website and click submit and have it sent to my email address? Any kind of a walkthrough someone could give me?

Here is some sample code on doing a search form using an MS Access database. It doesn't send an email like you mentioned, but perhaps it is still a good starting point for you. Before you look at that code, you might want to read through this tutorial.

    Hope this helps.
