Opening ports for remote access to SQL SERVER
Microsoft's SQL Server is new to me.
I need to connect remotely, and it's proving more difficult than expected.
We set a rule in the firewall allowing us to connect on port 1400 (yes, 1400, not 1433).
Telnet test is successful, but when trying from PHP we're "Unable to connect to server".
Does microsoft require that we open up ports to any supporting programs/applications ... such as SQL Service Broker or SQL Browser or ???...because it's dundant already.
