incorrect syntax near '-' SQL 2003
I am trying to point existing SQL views to a new server.
I ran sp_addlinkedserver then registered the server as sql.ttd-llc.local
When I append sql.ttd-llc.local. as a prefix to the existing database names e.g. sql.ttd-llc.local.Data I get incorrect syntax near '-' and there is a space before and after the dash in sql.ttd - llc.local.
Is this an invalid name format? Can I create an alias name as just sql? The new server is on a new domain.
We have existing sql report server in place and this seemed easier than trying to migrate everything else to the new domain.
