    ALTER TABLE Jokes ADD COLUMN...PRoblem

    When i try and add a column to an existion database i get an error...

    Here is waht i type:

    mysql> ALTER TABLE Jokes ADD COLUMN
    -->AuthorName VARCHAR(255);

    and here is the error

    ERROR 7: Error on rename of '.\jokes\jokes.MYI' to '.\jokes\#sql2-fff98c73-4.MYI
    ' (Errcode: 13)

    Does anyone know why its giving me this error...

    i did a
    c:\mysql\bin\> perror 7 13
    in the dos prompt and i get two error code definitions

    Error code 7: Arg list to long
    Error code 13:Permission Denied

    I notice that it is trying to rename
    Joker.MYI to #sql2-fff98c73-4.MYI

    Any ideas of whats causing this problem

    Ok here is the solution to this problem....

    ALTER TABLE Jokes ADD AuthorName varChar(255);

    For some reason in Kevin Yank's book from Sitepoint.com it tells me to type "ADD COLUMN" But this command only works with the "ADD command alone"
