    PHP mysql Calculations

    I have a php page that I need to do a simple calculation but I cannot figure it out. I have opened the data already to pull info for a form. Now I need to pull one column based on the current user_id and multiply it by as user inputed field. The user table contains the field ret_price and I need to multiply it by rep_pal and the result would be credit.

    I am stuck and need help. Thanks

    [CODE]

    <?php

    $page_limit = 10;

    // filter GET values
    foreach($_GET as $key => $value) {
    $get[$key] = filter($value);
    }

    foreach($_POST as $key => $value) {
    $post[$key] = filter($value);
    }

    $rs_all = mysql_query("select count(*) as total_all from users") or die(mysql_error());

    list($all) = mysql_fetch_row($rs_all);
    ?>
    <?php
    $sql="SELECT * FROM users WHERE user_name <> 'admin'";
    $result=mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error());

    $options="";

    while ($row=mysql_fetch_array($result)) {

    $id=$row["id"];
    $thing=$row["full_name"];
    $options.="<OPTION VALUE=\"$id\">".$thing.'</option>';
    }
    ?>
    <?php

    ?>
    <?php
    $err = array();

    if($_POST['doPickup'] == 'Enter Pickup')
    {

    if(empty($err)) {
    $total =
    $sql_insert = "INSERT into `pickups`
    (`id`,`date`,`trail_num`,`pal_pu`,`rep_pal`,`ns_pal`, `credit`)
    VALUES
    ('$_POST[id]','$_POST[date]','$_POST[trail_num]','$_POST[pal_pu]','$_POST[rep_pal]','$_POST[ns_pal]') ";

    mysql_query($sql_insert,$link) or die("Insertion Failed:" . mysql_error());
    }

    }
