Making a PC Game: Need Help Coding Player Character Movements
I think this is the best place to put this thread, but I'm not sure. Regardless, I am having a terrible time with this code. You see, I'm trying to make an indie horror game with the general layout of the game (visually) similar to the more popular ones such as Ib, Mad Father, The Witch's House, and Corpse Party. The main problem I'm having with my player character at the moment is coding the movements while simultaneously changing the sprite to the various walking animations. I have been able to do both on their own with varied results, but most of them, when applied in addition to the other code, disrupts the flow of movement and/or animation. On top of this, I would like the character to "snap to the grid" but the only code I found that was able to produce the effect didn't work with the animation nor did it produce a smooth transition from square to square.
I am at a loss for what to do next, and I'm hoping that someone here will be able to help me in my endeavor. I'll post my codes upon request, since I have used several variations of the "same" code.
