Two Errors involving JS, AJAX conflicts

Sorry I couldn't be more descriptive in the subject. I have two errors and not sure how I should phrase them.

I'm working on this site: http://www.blurbology.com/alpha

The first problem I'm encountering is that my lightbox script for my photos is not working. You can see a demo of how it SHOULD work here: http://www.blurbology.com/alpha/lightbox.html But it's not working on the site. It is conflicting with the code that is used for the dropdown options header. When I remove that chunk of code from the site - the lightbox starts working! Egads. Can anyone help with the conflict?? I've looked it over and can't find what's wrong but I'm not good with these types of scripts.

The second problem is only showing up in IE. When you click on the little "+" button in the upper right hand corner and then click on "Leave A Comment" an AJAX window appears. The scrollbars go haywire in IE, in Firefox they are fine. I've dug through the code and when the window is created it makes a 4000px X 4000 px image as the background overlay. I think that might be the issue. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help!!!

(Also if I've posted this in the wrong forum - sorry!)
