    navigator substrings for window versions, how to?

    I have done many searches on this and have been UTL, were do I find this info or are these correct, I guessed on XP and Vista; this is to look for the window version/name/type... also while I am asking this question could I also get a reply for specific verions of Macs, Apples, Linux, or is there just the main version for those and that is it... as well how do you find the browser substring names to look for? I have the major ones, that I got from old scripts that I am learning from but that is all... thanks for any help. (I highlighed a few to show what I am referring to, exactly.)

    Code:
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"Win16",identity:"Windows 3.1"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"95",identity:"Windows 95"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"98",identity:"Windows 98"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"win 9x 4.90",identity:"Windows Millennium"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"Windows NT 5.0",identity:"Windows 2000 (Windows NT5)"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"WinNT",identity:"Windows NT"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"Windows NT",identity:"Windows NT (Windows NT )"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"XP",identity:"Windows XP"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"Vista",identity:"Windows Vista"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"os/2",identity:"OS/2"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"Win",identity:"Windows"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"Mac",identity:"Macintosh"},
     {string:navigator.userAgent,subString:"Linux",identity:"Linux"}

    Apples and Macs are the same thing.

    What do you intend to do with this script?
    Learn CSS. | SSI | PHP includes | X/HTML Validator | CSS validator | Dynamic Site Solutions
    Java != JavaScript && JScript != JavaScript
    Design/program for Firefox (and/or Opera), apply fixes for IE, not the other way around.

    This is for a browser analysis script, I was wanting to get the info correct, I tried it at home on my WinXP and it shoes as WinNT so I did not get the correct string label.
