    double click background to edit?

    Hi,
    I'm wondering how I can have the same function thats used on this site,
    has any one here every noticed that if you view the topic list on this site, and double click on a topic that you made, it brings up an edit option for the subject? just wondering how this is done?
    very kool feature.

    thanks in advance for your time!

    hmm,
    I just finily had a chance to look at this ( after the xmas vaction ).
    and all I see is a flash slide show.

    should there be something else here?
    I was asking how I could do the same function of click on a cell, and editing the content. this just seems to show how it works, and I know how the front end works, just not the code.

    thanks again for your time!

    ok,
    for now,
    I'm just trying to do something like:

    <td OnDoubleClick="location.href='default.asp?action=edit&id=213'" >
    cell 1
    </td>

    but OnDoubleClick doesn't seem to be working,
    if I use just onClick it works fine.

    any ideas?

    thanks again for your time!

    It shows a demonstration of the technology.

    ok,
    well I'm lost,
    I have no idea why XMLHttpRequest would help me for this?

    I used this function before in VB for getting xml data frmo remote sites.
    maybe you didn't understand my question. and as for the demonstration, I don't need a demonstration, i know how the function should work. but I want to know how to do this myself. and I think that simply using OnClick, with OnBlur, will do what I require.

    thanks,

    Ajax
    http://files.vbulletin.com/3.5/ajax.html

    It shows a demonstration of the technology.

    Ajax or XMLHttpRequest is what you want to be googling for
    You need to use those technologies to enable inline editing.

    You are using javascript to load a new page. Ajax interacts with the database to edit and update the information without refreshing the page.
