    Sliding Ajax-filled 'pod' with img/text?

    Hi!

On my homepage i have a 'pod' that I want to have cycle through a bunch of Specials that I administrate in my admin area.

In the pod I want to display the Specials name, image, and description.

My question IS, can I do this with straight up JS or am I going to have include some AJAX to pull from the DB to populate this? And I would like to have the pod contents slide in/out when rotating specials, or fading would work too.

Is any of this feasible and if so does anyone have examples and/or scripts for me to play with?!

    Thanks CF!

Because this would be the same thing over and over again you are better off using a javascript array instead of an AJAX application. Using AJAX in this situation would be over kill. And a huge waste of resources.
Note: I do not test code. I just write it off the top of my head. There might be bugs in it! But if any thing I gave you the overall theory of what you need to accomplish. Also there are plenty of other ways to accomplish this same thing. I just gave one example of it. Other ways might be faster and more efficient.

OK, I was wondering the same thing.... so I'll just create a JS array with my ASP and then change the innerHTML of the DIV with the setTimeout().

How about a sliding function... something that eases in and out, or fades? so onChange() it will slide/fade into the next special?

    Thnx!

I am sure Dynamic Drive has the sliding thing you are looking for. Fading is an IE only function. So I would not suggest this.
