    start application on PC

    Hi

I have got a question. I wonder if you can use javascript to start other applications on the pc. But I dont want to just start it. I want to basicly simmulate the command promt and pass variables into the application.

    Is this possible to do?

generally speaking, we discourage giving out this kind of information, for a couple of reasons.

    1) the methods for doing this work only in Internet Explorer, and are extremely unreliable.
    2) running a program without a user's permission from a webpage constitutes at the least an invasion of privacy, if not an a serious security risk.

this information IS available in the forum archives, by way of the "search" page. because of that, and because we can't condone this activity, i'm closing this thread.
