And also, when I try to execute it, all it does is put what I have inside the function.

again, sorry to be a pest, but how do I have it search through an array until it finds the given value, then decides if the var is true or false dependent upon if the value is found?

Be aware that alerts regarded as obsolete and should not be used in real programming. They are used (if at all) in debugging. Use DOM methods to display messages to your users.

All the code given in this post has been tested and is intended to address the question asked.
Unless stated otherwise it is not just a demonstration.

First: I don't know how to do that
Second: This is just a test run for a game I am gonna program (Someday, hopefully, and also hopefully not by myself, since apparently I just suck at programming), and the alerts are how I know if it's working. The actual game will have graphics, messages, gameplay, etc.
