    Slideshow that works in NN

    I am trying to utilize a slideshow that does the following:

    * allows for various sized images;
    * has manual (not auto!) next & previous;
    * allows for descriptions beneath the slides.

    I found it surprisingly difficult to find something exactly like that at the online archives (and I looked at dozens of scripts!). The one I found needed slight modification, and it works fine in IE but not at all in Netscape.

    Rather than adding all the script code here, I put it online for easy access. The slideshow itself loads very fast (only 4 images for this test run) and is at:

    http://www.jolaf.com/test/slide_show.html

    The javascript is at:

    http://www.jolaf.com/test/slide_show.js

    If anyone has a bit of free time and wants to take a look to see why NN will not present the images (or the text description), I'd be very grateful. Thanks for any feedback....

    I hope when you say Netscape you do not mean 4.*
    If IE 5+ and Gecko are OK for you can try my slideshow:

    Thanks Vladdy for your kind offer -- you did a beautiful job on that slideshow. I checked your page with NN7 and it displays perfectly, but after working for over 2 hours on this project I came to the conclusion that your scripting abilities are so far beyond my own that I'll have to wait for awhile to figure out how to utilize your code.

    As far as I can tell, you have 4 separate js being referenced and try though I may I cannot get those scripts to properly run on my own html page without error messages, so I'm obviously doing something wrong.

    It appears to me that DOM_fixes.js needs no adjustment; HoodSSData.js seems straightforward enough (substitute my images/text for your's); SlideShowPresentation.js should also just be a matter of defining my own images folder; and SlideShow.js shouldn't need any changes (as far as I can tell). So my problem is likely with how I am doing the html page to call the slideshow.

    That's a fairly complex html page -- if it would ever be possible for you to place only your slide show itself on a separate page (as a popup for example), then that might help those of us who have not reached your level of expertise.

    So as I said, many thanks again, but I'm afraid I'm not getting it....

    As it is said at the top of the page, I no longer support this script. If you are interested in it, I can set it up on your page, but it would not be for free. E-mail me if interested.

    Try Slideshow Factory

    Maybe this might help you:
    Slideshow Factory

    It's a free demo allowing you to create about 20 different slideshows and image effects.

    Good luck!

    Did you read the original post? He wants the slideshow that works in Gecko browsers, not the one with an arrogant "WRONG BROWSER" pop-up

    Thanks Opeter for the link, but as Vladdy said I'm looking for a slideshow with very specific features. There are actually dozens of free ss scripts at the js archive sites, but almost none that will show images of varying sizes *and* work in IE & NN *and* have manual advance *and* allow for descriptions beneath each picture. I do realize that's asking a lot.

    And thanks Vladdy once again for showing us what is possible -- your script is about as good as it gets.
