    Internet Explorer Browsers

    Hi Guys,

    Is there any way that the browser window can be closed?

    Regards,

    It' called by window.close() but it depends oon teh user's security settings...a prompt may apper telling him taht the site is trying to close the window....
    also note that unlike other methods or props oh teh window object..this method must ALWAYS be called like window.close() or self.close();

    close() is not correct(invalid).

    Thanks Code Wizard for you response. I was aware that the warning would appear with this method of close. What I would like to achieve is the forced closure of the browser window, which in turn will clear the back button. Do you have any ideas.

    I doubt you'll find a way because it would be a real annoyance (and somewhat of a security hole) if a script were able to just close the browser window.

    Why do you need to clear the back button?
