    Data entry and saving

    Guys,

I'd like to ask your advice on how to save information in a series of text boxes. IOn a project I'm working on, I currently have around ten input boxes of various types in a single div, which I would like to be able to input various information into and then save. I don't want anyone to do anything for me, I'd just like to know where to begin!

    Thanks!

For security reasons Javascript is not able to create, write to, modify or delete any file. It can only read files (using AJAX).

So you need to use server-side scripting. Unless you means save the data entered by that particular user only, in which case you can use a cookie or local storage.

All the code given in this post has been tested and is intended to address the question asked.
Unless stated otherwise it is not just a demonstration.

Thank you for your help! I wonder if you could give me a little direction on where to proceed with research on how I'm going to accomplish this - what language should I be using and what should I be looking into to get some good knowledge on the subject?

you can use webSQL or localStroage on iOS devices to save internally to the phone/tablet.

if you want to save something that everyone else can see, you need server storage of some kind. you don't have to figure it all out yourself, you can use amazon or google storage, or a higher-level service like Parse to handle user data.
