    Question Symbols in Statusbar

    Hello everybody

    I got a few problems and need some help please.

    1. How do you show symbols like copyright or Registerd in the status bar? In the script below it does not render out the character. But in this post it is rendered out correct as u can see.

    <script language="JavaScript">

    window.defaultStatus ="Copyright 2003 &reg; All rights reserved";

    </script>

    2.

    How do you make a table to get auto center vertically? the horisontal center works great but cant get it to do the same vertically.

    Its a table containing diffrent slices of a picture made in Fireworks.

    3. How do you activate and visible the statusbar if its not activated and show the above message in it?

    Thank you very much in advance

    Great site

    1)
    <script language="JavaScript">
    window.defaultStatus ="Copyright 2003 ® All rights reserved";
    </script>

    It works for me in IE5.5

    2) I don't think that can be done unless scrolling the page is diasbled.

    3) Not sure I understand the question. The above script places the message in the status bar.

    View->Status Bar
    He wants to be able to have that checked if it is not, which I believe it isn't defautly.

    Refinement

    Thank you guys for the help but I will try to refine my questions a little bit.

    1. What I mean is that I cant see the symbol itself but I see the html code that the symbol represents.
    for example I see it like this :

    >Copyright 2003 (code) All rights reserved< Instead of
    >Copyright 2003 ® All rights reserved<

    -------------------Only in statusbar------------------

    3.

    I want the the statusbar to be enabled if the user that enters my site has disabled it by going to |view|>statusbar and disabled it.

    Thank you once again and would appriciate some help.

    Philips code works for me also using IE6
    Code:
    <script language="JavaScript">
    window.defaultStatus ="Copyright 2003 ® All rights reserved";
    </script>
    And I'm not going to tell you how to enable the status bar.
    It is wrong to mess with someones personal settings.
    I surf with my staus bar disabled and if I went to your site and
    you enabled my status bar I would leave, never to return.
    Regardless how interested I was in your content.

    Please reconsider your status bar position.

    Hear hear! It is always alarming when questioners seem to want to interfere with the settings/preferences of the user's computer. Surely there cannot ever be a good reason for doing this.

    By the way, the copyright symbol should be (c) and not (r), which
    refers to music and designs. (c) is permitted rather than the c-in-a-circle symbol.

    OK guys, first I want to thank you and also want to say that I get the point and you are right since your experience shows that all the aspects have to be taken into consideration.

    Welll, I wont implent things like this and their is always other ways to do things.

    You are also right about that Registerd and copyright thing Philip.
    I managed to mess that in my mind some how and wrote wrong.
    Thank you for the correction. I didnt mean to make this subject so alarming and scary

    Once again, thanks
