    Java script runs in MS IE but not Netscape

    I finally got the javascript to run properly thanks to the help from nolachrymose
    It works properly in any CD assignment now but only with Internet Explorer. Is there something I need to do to make it work in Netscape as well.
    Details of the script are in the thread
    "need help creating javascript to run CD executables"
    below.
    Thanks
    Dan

    You are using an ActiveX object. That's supported only by IE. I have heard of some "fix" for Gecko, but I believe the users have to have it on their system for it to work.

    Happy coding!

    I guess I can live with that

    Thanks for all your help. I guess I can live with the IE as the only browser.
    Just out of curiosity though is there a quick easy way to do the same thing using pure javascript in case I want to give this some more effort?

    Well, instead of using a Shell script, you could change the location. That might work to how you want it.

    Code:
    location.href = 'file:///D:/myfile.exe';
    Hope that helps!

    Happy coding!
