    You may want to display a loading status message as searching may take a while to complete.

    PHP Code:
    var output document.getElementById('output');
    output.innerHTML 'Searching...Please wait.';

    connection.Open(connectionstring);
    var
    rs = new ActiveXObject("ADODB.Recordset");
    ...
    var
    html '';
    if (
    rs.eof) {
       ...
    }
    else {
       ...
    }

    //display results
    output.innerHTML html

    Thank you all for your help in getting this to work. I do have one small problem that I am having difficulty in fixing. When I do the search and press the searh button the results display for about one second then the page refreshes and results are gone.

    If I post the code for this page would anyone be able to help me figure out what is going on?

    Thanks again, I appreciate your assistance.

    Got it to work by adding a return: false; statement to the button that calls the function to display the data.
