Question Create sounds with JS only. Possible?

Is it possible to create sounds (in particular a tone for a Morse code display) using JS only?

Or do the sounds need to be created in some sort of compatible waveform file
and called somehow to make the appropriate sound?

I have a script I'm developing, but I would like to hear the Dit-Dah tones.

    Arrow

Thanks, that appears to be the wave (pun intended) of the future for sounds (HTML5)

But, I'm looking for a cross-browser solution that works in more than just the Chrome browser.
    Any other suggestions?

    it is: http://caniuse.com/#feat=audio-api

    https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/...tone_generator

we can all guess which one of the top 5 browsers doesn't support it...
well, if you count opera, you'll have to wait a few weeks for the first webkit engine version to come out...
