    Remove back buttons

    I had been asked if it is possible that when the user access's there website, if the back buttons can be removed.

    Currently I have come up with opening a new window from the first page and then execute this bit of script to close the opener without the warning. Im guessing it will throw up a warning in netscape but I dont have netscape to test it.
    Code:
    	window.opener.opener=window;
    	window.opener.close();
    Is there a better way to do this. Idealy id like a cross broswer sollution which just strips the back forward etc... buttons off as this would retain all the session stored info of that window and would assure that the user has the same menu bars as he had before minus the back etc .. buttons

    Havn't got a clue if anything like that is possible, any help appreciated

    Thanks, Dale

    You're just trying to solve a problem with another problem. Even if there's no Back button, the user can still go back to a page by using the context menu. Solve the "real" problem.

    I know that they can still go back using the context menu or shortcut keys.

    In our portal, the users arent allowed to use the back button.

    There are many teams involed with are project and fixing the issue's with hitting the broswers back buttons is nothing to do with us.

    I have been asked is it possible to remove the back buttons.
    Is what I said in the previous post possible?

    I very much doubt that we will remove the back buttons in the end even if it is possible somehow, but I need let them know what the options are.

    The solution is not to cache the page. Look here: http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/webtech/111500-1.shtml
