    Can't hide URL address in window?

    I'm using window.open with:

    'directories=no,location=no,menubar=no,resizable=no,scrollbars=no,status=no,titlebar=no,toolbar=no'

    But I can still see the URL, and I can still re-size the window!?!?!

    Am I doing something wrong?

    No, you’re not doing anything wrong. It’s just that different browsers have different implementations and settings. I know that Firefox changed the way child windows are displayed to always show the address bar, most likely as a security/usability measure so people can always see on which domain they are (e. g. to prevent phishing etc.). Therefore, any attempt to hide that address bar with JS is futile. As to resizing, this is also something that can specifically be disabled by the user in the browser settings. I wouldn’t rely on it.

    Contemporary approaches tend to not use popup windows anyway, but rather dynamic overlays inside the document.
