    Another quick thing - regarding the post about implying JS wasn't a real programming language - There is server-side JavaScript platforms. Apparently Facebook uses JS for it's back-end stuff, with PHP handling everything else. I don't know if that's true or not, but if it is, it's quite interesting. Would have thought they would have used PHP/Apache or the Microsoft server program (I forget it's name, IIS?).

    And Server-Side JavaScript

    An interesting article about Facebook and BigPipe.

    IMO JavaScript is my favourite language and can do some pretty amazing things . Modern JS engines are also, I believe, very efficient.

    Code:
    this.lottery = this.lottery || 1000000;
    "I'm here to save your life. But if I'm going to do that, I'll need total uninanonynymity." Me Myself & Irene.

    Well, of course ASP from Microsoft has supported JavaScript (okay, okay..."JScript"...but the differences are infintesimal) as a server-side language since about 1996 or so.

    MS's JS engine wasn't very efficient (and probably still isn't, relative to the best implementations), but it has worked and continues to do so.

    Yes, there are other JS server-side systems. I, personally, prefer class-oriented languages for server-side work. But that's me.

    Oh I know it won't be a quick job for the assessment. It's why my partner and I are both going through coding forums for advice on how to proceed. I know coding (especially when learning) is not really a quick thing.
