A permanent bar (frame) at the top of the window.

I want to open a page within a big frame so that I retain a thin horizontal bar in a second frame at the top of the screen. This bar contains various buttons and ways to jump back into my main site. Or the user can press the button to get rid of the bar.

I've seen webpages do this sometimes. How do I do it?

    1. What's the javascript that tells me the url of a frame? I need this if the user clicks on the 'collapse bar' button. I want to replace the frameset by the url of the big frame.

    2. If the user types a new url into the browser, this will also replace the frameset - but is there a way around this? Keep the bar at the top, until the user collapses it?
