Is it possible to initiate an automated click at a specific time?

First off, I apologize if I'm in the wrong area. I was referred to the site here by a neighbor of mine that has used these forums in the past.

Before I move forward with finding someone to help me with some kind of a browser extension, I need to know if it is even possible to do. I have zero experience with anything code related, but wanted to do a little leg work here.

The basic goal is to be able to input a specific time of day, and have the code execute a click on a button or link. The more specific the timing can be, the better.

I've done a little research over the past couple evenings, and I see that there are ways to use time intervals. I would if possible like to use exact hour, minutes, seconds, and even milliseconds.

Alternatively, if anyone has come across something that already does what I'm looking for. I would be much appreciative if you could point me in that direction.

Thank you all for your time.

    Thanks for the reply, iBall.

Actually the time that will need to be input will usually be no more than 10 minutes out. Occasionally 1-2 hours, but that would be rare.

mmm... just to clarify... you're talking about a click on a page that you control, right? not a click on somebody else's page?

and if so, why not just set the function to run at the time you want it to (assuming that the user has that page open at the specified time) instead of emulating a click on a link or button?

    or am I missing something?

Hey xelawho, thanks for chiming in. This is actually for clicking on somebody else's page. That's why I was thinking about paying someone to create a browser extension might be the best way to go about accomplishing by goal.

iBall, so seconds are as fine tuned as I would be able to go? I had an idea about implementing a clock into the extension also. If that were the case, wonder if a clock that registered into tenths of a second is an option.

To get a little more in depth about it. Once the specified time has arrived, I will want it to simply click on one of two buttons. Forgive me as I'm not really sure how to explain this in more technical terms. I looked at some documentation regarding the onclick function and noticed that I can assign the click to a button by its id?

I'm just trying to become even more productive with my business. As it is now, I have to go from page to page and manually click the buttons around the appropriate time. If I can get this to work the way I hope, it will allow me to open multiple tabs, set the time needed, and allow the extension do the actual click. Would save me an immense amount of time during the day.

    Thanks again.

Yes it would be. But no, this has to do with timed bidding.

    Why not use Auction Sniper?

All the code given in this post has been tested and is intended to address the question asked.
Unless stated otherwise it is not just a demonstration.

    Thanks for the idea Philip.

Unfortunately, Sniper won't work because there is not a countdown timer displayed anywhere on the page. Everything works on a 3 minute timer as an example, but you are in the dark as to when the 3 minutes are up.

It takes a while to figure out where the exact time is, but once you find it, it stays the same. This is why being able to specify down to even the tenth of a second would be an enormous life saver.

Oh, and I forgot one small wrinkle. You have to refresh the page in between bids. This is why using an auto click based on a 3 minute time delay won't work.
