DHTML content and HTML objects overlapping

    Hello everybody,

This problem seems to be known, but I haven't found any "article" or forum-post explaining well the problem, as well as giving explanations about it :

It seems like on some browsers (or all ?), when you create dynamic content, which by the way you can move with your mouse (I did a kind of Calendar, which has a blue area that you can drag and drop), and move this content on some HTML objects (like a Select tag) : the priority goes to the HTML object whatever z-index you can assign to the DHTML content. Therefore that content disappears -below- the Select tag.
I've had this behaviour on IE 5 and 6 so far, haven't tested on Netsape yet.

Can someone either explain this problem (seems like it's browser related anyway), and maybe also give a list of -all- HTML objects that may cause problem to a dynamic content, so I know what to avoid to use on a page ?
Or if you have a good link explaining this, that would be great !

    Thanks for your help
    Herten

Webreference.com has what is probably the most in-depth discussion of this. And it's been recently updated to cover the latest browsers as well. See http://www.webreference.com/dhtml/diner/seethru/
