    problem making "pop-up window" links for image map

    hello

    I have an image map that I made using CoffeeCup Image Mapper, it consists of six links. I want each of these links to open individual pop-up windows. In the CoffeeCup program, while mapping where I want each link to be, this options comes up for each area:

    "ALT (appears as a Pop-Up):"

    what do I fill in under ALT? advice anyone?

    here's the image map in html: (as you can see, ALT is left blank)

    <img SRC="Mainsll.jpg" USEMAP="#Mainslll" BORDER=0>
    <map NAME="Mainslll">
    <area SHAPE=RECT COORDS="10,372,60,413" HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/un/uuu/blabla1.html" ALT="" OnMouseOut="window.status=''; return true" OnMouseOver="window.status='1'; return true">

    <area SHAPE=RECT COORDS="82,372,132,413" HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/un/uuu/blabla2.html" ALT="" OnMouseOut="window.status=''; return true" OnMouseOver="window.status='2'; return true">
    <area SHAPE=RECT COORDS="154,372,204,414" HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/un/uuu/blabla3.html" ALT="" OnMouseOut="window.status=''; return true" OnMouseOver="window.status='3'; return true">
    <area SHAPE=RECT COORDS="226,372,275,413" HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/un/uuu/blabla4.html" ALT="" OnMouseOut="window.status=''; return true" OnMouseOver="window.status='4'; return true">
    <area SHAPE=RECT COORDS="298,372,348,413" HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/un/uuu/blabla5.html" ALT="" OnMouseOut="window.status=''; return true" OnMouseOver="window.status='5'; return true">
    <area SHAPE=RECT COORDS="370,372,419,413" HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/un/uuu/blabla6.html" ALT="" OnMouseOut="window.status=''; return true" OnMouseOver="window.status='6'; return true">
    </map>

    am I looking in the right direction? ???

    put different values for the target attribute for each link.

    ALT is a pure HTML atribute of the IMG and AREA tags, and it has nothing to do with JavaScript. The values you use are whichever you want to see anyone when "touches" the image (or, as in your case, a part of it, an area).

    ALT will appears even if there is no rollover javascript there. A pure HTML atribute, as I said. If you want no "small pop-up description" just remove the ALT.

    thanks for clearing some of this up, I can't believe how off I was...

    anyways...

    can someone post an example of where the values for each target attribute should be in the image map? I've tried putting them in "target" but nothing happened.

    I have the popup windows, but now I need to customize each one so that they're all different sized popups (w/no scrollbars, menubars, etc)...

    thanks greatly

    i confess i don't see your point. In your example, windows.status will add someting in your Status Bar. Nothing about a pop window, as far as I can see...

    my problem in simplest words possible:

    can you give me advice or tell me where to go to get a JavaScript code that will allow me to open a new window for each link on an image MAP, which are customized in width, length, toolbar/no toolbar, etc. ?

    sorry for the confusion
    thanks

    Code:
    function doOpen(url,target,w,h){
    	var win = window.open(url,target,"width="+w+",height="+h);
    	win.focus();
    	return false;//cancels href
    }
    to use:

    <area SHAPE=RECT COORDS="10,372,60,413" HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/un/uuu/blabla1.html" target="blabla1" onclick="return doOpen(this.href,this.target,800,600)" ALT="blabla1" OnMouseOut="window.status=''; return true" OnMouseOver="window.status='1'; return true">

    <area SHAPE=RECT COORDS="82,372,132,413" HREF="http://www.angelfire.com/un/uuu/blabla2.html" target="blabla2" onclick="return doOpen(this.href,this.target,500,300)" ALT="blabla2" OnMouseOut="window.status=''; return true" OnMouseOver="window.status='2'; return true">
