    internet videos

    Hello:

I am soooo new to the online video I have no idea where to look or even post this question. If I am in the wrong place, can someone guide me as to where I should be?!?!

My question is how or where can I store video (besides youtube). I need to have various videos each with about 1 hour length which would be what, 2-3G?

Is this something that is stored in on a hosting server along with a website's other pages or is it something that needs to be stored in a specific location?

    Help?! :0

    Thanks,
    D

Yeah...wow...this is the wrong section. Why would you think that storing videos online would be a javascript thing?

I suggest you ask a moderator to move this thread to the general web building forum. The problem with hosting videos that size is storage and bandwidth. You are going to have to spend quite a bit of money to get both. If possible compress them further. Flash video format (.flv) is pretty small in size and doesn't really lose quality. You will need a flash video player though but there are plenty out there that you can use on the web.

Also what would be the need to store these videos? Would it be for a site or for your own personal reasons so you can access them any time you want? If its personal I have a different solution for you that doesn't cost a dime. It just depends on whether or not you have high speed internet.

    Hi:

thanks for the quick reply. I didn't think it was a javascript thing, but I thought maybe someone from here could point me in the right direction as to where to look for a solution. Actually, the videos is for someone that wants to be able to show various seminars they are giving (each more or less an hour in length). I know this is a lot of info and bandwidth. Obviously, they want to make the seminars available to anyone visiting their website.

Well, at least I now know this isn't the right place to look. Thanks anyway, I'll keep looking.
