    Pop up message when clicked on a link

    Hi all,
    I want to open a popup message when a user clicks on a link. Please refer to the screen shot I've attached.

    What you show in the picture would not strictly be called a popup, but perhaps more of a type of modal window, in a very loose sense of the definition. (some good ones found here). In my experience, modals in javascript don't usually require user interaction (like it says in the Wikipedia article) depending on the configuration; they can be used for a variety of situations. One common thing though, is that it is a "popup window", but does not actually open another browser window (a practice much overused in the Web 1.0 age). A common variation of the modal window is a lightbox, usually used for picture galleries.
