    Getting all but one id

I want to darken everything on the screen but one div (it has an Id). I know how to do filters and what-not, the problem is, I can't seem to apply it to everything but that div. Is there a way to get all but an id? I'm using Firefox.

If your darkening effect just involves covering the screen with something like a semi‐transparent div element, then you can move the div element that you want to be unaffected above the semi‐transparent div by use of the CSS z-index property.
For every complex problem, there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.
