    Need help with plugin

We have written a plugin for wordpress Mingle that allows users to "like" a status update similar to facebook is a basic sense... Issue is that when clicked it currently refreshes the page and brings the user back to status update, which is how it was written since jquery us new to me. I am looking for help on how to possibly add jquery to this to eliminate the page refresh.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

is not complicated but is a long story,
i guess you want to update a database when a user 'like' what you want.
    steps to what's happend:

    1. user click on like
    2. javascript/jquery change the content of the page
    3. in the same time with 2, send a ajax request to a server side script to update the database

    something that could help:
    for 1: http://api.jquery.com/category/events/
    for 2: http://api.jquery.com/category/manipulation/
    for 3: http://api.jquery.com/category/ajax/

that's a start only, check jquery version from your wordpress, usualy wp use a old version.

    best regards

thanks for the reply. I have read those before and looked at some star rating plugins that use jquery. Since I am a complete newbie on using jquery to modify a database, I have no idea where to start with coding it
