    Most used java environment?

As it is the case with c/c++, where visual c++ (AFAIK) is the the facto standard, what is the standard for java developers?

I'm not sure that there is a de facto Java Enviornment, like Visual C++. However, I would suggest that you use JCreator. It's been capable of handling everything that I need it to so far, with the added bonus of being free.

Althought I've only been programming Java for a couple months, I also suggest JCreator.

I'm personally a newbie, but I've noticed that my university has both JCreator and JBuilder installed on its servers, so I assume that they are the most common IDEs.

Isn't Eclipse the most likely candidate for that?

    Eclipse or IDEA

Anyone doing any *real* Java development these days is either using Eclipse or IntelliJ IDEA. Eclipse is OpenSource, IDEA isn't. They're by far the most widely used. I've never worked with anyone who uses JBuilder, NetBeans, or any of the other dozens of Java IDEs out there...from what I hear they're just not up to par with either Eclipse or IDEA.
