    Hi

    The favicon.ico is a .ico (icon) image that is displayed in the URL box to the left of the url this image is stored on the websites server and is called favicon so the browser will reconise it as the url image.
    To make a favicon your self :
    1) make the picture (small i think 5 x 5) as .gif ect
    2) download a .ico image converter from internet (search google)
    3) convert the picture into a .ico image with the software saving it as favicon
    4) Upload the favicon.ico to your webpage's sever
    5) Load your website and see if its there

    hope this helps webgirl

    5x5 is too small. 16x16 is a bit better and so forth doubling the dimensions. This site allows you to upload an existing image you have and then it creates a favicon for you.

    You may want to read about them on this page too: http://www.favicon.com

    Photoshop can make .ico files, you just need the right plugin. Some sites offer this plugin for free, just do a search. Uploading the icon will work in most browsers but IE6 needs
    Code:
    <link rel="shortcut icon" href="favicon.ico">
    and it will only be used for favorites and only when the favorite is access the favicon will appear in the address bar. Its not something you really need, it justs gives you site a little extra flare.
