    Question simple list borking up the first <li> tag (firefox)

    Okay, I'm not seeing why this isn't working. It looks fine in IE, but in Firefox, the first list item is treating every blank space between characters as a break. Every list item after it is displaying correctly.

    Simple html list in a div
    Code:

    <div id="recent">
    	  <ul>
    	  <li><a href="/user/4">another item with a long title</a><br/>0 days, 2 hours ago</li>
    	  <li><a href="/user/4">another item with a long title</a><br/>0 days, 4 hours ago</li>
    	  <li><a href="/user/4">another item with a long title</a><br/>1 day, 2 hours ago</li>
    	  </ul>
    	  </div>
    css
    Code:
    #recent{
        padding-bottom: 1em;
        font-family: ariel, helvetica, sans-serif;
        color: #ffffff;
        font-size: 11px;
        width:100%;
        top:1em;
        position:relative;
        }

    #recent ul{
       margin-left:4.5em;
       text-align:left;
    * margin-left:9em;
       }

    #recent ul li{
       color:white;
       padding:5 20 10 0;
       }

    #recent ul li a{
       color:#fff8aa;
       text-decoration:none;
    	}

    I fixed it. I added white-space:nowrap; to the li css.
