    Problem with Epoch DHTML Calendar

    Hi all

    I have the following problem with the Epoch Calendar (version 106):

    If it's next to the calendar popup a <select> then the select box is visible thru the open calendar. This happens with all IE < 7.0 and it doesn't happend with Firefox or with IE 7.0 Beta.

    The HTML looks like this:

    Code:
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Strict//EN"
        "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-strict.dtd">
    <!--Doctype is not required - can be HTML or XHTML-->
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>Minimum Required Code - Epoch DHTML Javascript Calendar</title>

    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="epoch_styles.css" />
    <script type="text/javascript" src="epoch_classes.js"></script>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    /*You can also place this code in a separate file and link to it like epoch_classes.js*/
    	var bas_cal,dp_cal,ms_cal;
    window.onload = function () {
    	dp_cal  = new Epoch('epoch_popup','popup',document.getElementById('popup_container'));
    };
    </script>
    </head>
    <body>

    <h2>Popup</h2>
    <form id="placeholder" method="get" action="#">
      <input id="popup_container" type="text" />
    </form>

    <br>
    <br>
    <form>
    <select name="Test">
      <option value="1">Select 1</option>
      <option value="1">Select 2</option>
      <option value="1">Select 2</option>
      <option value="1">Select 2</option>
      <option value="1">Select 2</option>
      <option value="1">Select 2</option>
      <option value="1">Select 2</option>
      <option value="1">Select 2</option>
      <option value="1">Select 1</option>
    </select>
    </form>

    </body>
    Thanks for any help

    Where's the CSS?

    At first glance, it looks like an IE bug where select elements don't respect z-index values. The only workarounds I've seen on the web involve iframes and other assorted craziness… Might be better, too, if you post a link to the page.

    Hi Richard

    Thanks for your answer. I can't give you a link to the page because it's an intranet application.

    The CSS ist the one which is delivered with the epoch calendar. I've downloaded the calender from this page.

    Oh, why didn't you say so? The ol' epoch calendar from this page.

    What epoch calendar? What page?!

    Am I the only one with this problem. I have downloaded the calendar from this link: http://www.javascriptkit.com/script/...ch/index.shtml - and I got the problem with the comboboxes only in the IE < beta 7 - not in Firefox, Safari, etc

    If out there is somebody who can help me I would be very happy
    Thanks.

    IE makes select boxes always on top, no matter what z-index they are set to.

    Hi Mark

    Thanks for your answer.

    Is there no workaround for this problem?

    With the IE 7.0 beta does it work.

    There is no easy solution normally, but you *could* try hiding the select box(es) when the popup is called.

    Do you a link to the page? It would be easier to see what possible workarounds would work.

    You may also wish to take a look at http://www.macridesweb.com/oltest/IframeShim.html .
