    HTML formatting

    is there like a small program that you can run html through and it'll automatically make the right indents etc ? I looked at HTML Tidy from W3c but it's a bit.. rubbish.

    i just started using notepad (used to use frontpage 2000) and i don't know where the right indents should go so it's all in a straight line :S

    rich.

    I shouldn't worry too much about the indents, I never use them, its all down to personal preference I think, sure it might make your coding look more professional but its up to you.

    What do you mean with the right indents?Making the html code more readable?
    Dreamweaver does this when you insert tables,images etc. .

    Indented:

    Code:
    <div align="center">
      <center>
      <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
        <tr>
          <td></td>
          <td></td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
          <td></td>
          <td></td>
        </tr>
      </table>
      </center>
    </div>
    Not indented:

    Code:
    <div align="center">
    <center>
    <table border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0">
    <tr>
    <td></td>
    <td></td>
    </tr>
    <tr>
    <td></td>
    <td></td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </center>
    </div>

    The only real use for indents is organization. There is no need to indent code and no code will ever require it. It just makes it easier for some programmers to indent things; especially tables.
