    Website Coding Sliding Problem

    Hi,

I am designing a website for my mum in aquantince with a professional graphic designer (who doesnt do much webdesign at all) and since I know a bit about it I am designing the webdesign side of it however I have come accross a problem.

Please look at the brief. (2.65mb) and go to page 10. I can do the whole brief except for page 10.

I have exported the website to html and images using Fireworks however when trying to change the code to do what it says in page 10 the whole webpage gets distorted and white spaces come up everywhere...

This is one of the pages (1mb zip) that has been exported from Fireworks.
Could someone modify the coding in that html file (in the zip) to make it do what it says on page 10... I found this impossible.

If you could do it another way without exporting to fireworks here is the original photoshop file. (4.87mb). I would also like to learn if you do it another way.

Please ask further questions on here or ask for my email.

    Thanks in advance.

    Big, bigger...

Could you perhaps present the information you have to go on in a slightly more modest form, like a gif of just page 10 (and perhaps one of the others for comparison) and a screen shot or two of the exported pages (one right, one wrong)? I'm having a bit of a problem with those Mb-sized files, and no zip or rar will get past the company firewall.
    Regards,
    Ronald.

Do you have to use Fireworks? I love FW for slicing images and mocking up layouts, but holy moly it's one of the worst to export HTML.

Not to mention on page 9 there's a big red warning telling you to code to w3c standards, so although your page will probably be valid, I'm sure that's not what this guy means (i.e., no FW table layout and sliced spacer .gifs).

Anyhoo. The first thing that comes to mind is to use a repeating, vertically tiling background image for the black column (a la ALA's faux columns). The navigation can go in a separate div with the Lenore icon at the bottom; its height will serve as a "minimum height" for the page. The bottom icon can be used as a background image for the footer.

There are probably a few different ways to do this, this is the first I thought of. If you post some of your trial code here I will try to help you a bit.
