    header, footer, center column

Can anyone help a noob to make a fluid layout for a header, footer, and just one center column.

I need the center column to have two different size containers.

    thanks for the replies.

How can I make the left and right columns, of a 3-column centered layout, be 10 pixels away, horizontally, from the center column?

    Wrapper

If all three columns have percentage widths the easiest solution would be to wrap the center section in an extra div and set left and right padding on this wrapper div.
Although this means adding superfluous markup it's the most reliable way to assure consistent results across various browsers and avoid having to resort to hacks/patches.
