    Opening Applications

    Hello,

Im in the middle of creating an Intranet and i need to be able to open applications such as word etc. by clicking on a link on some of my pages.
Does anyone know how to do this? i tried hyperlinking to the programs .exe file but it never seems to work.

    Cheers Glyn.

Have you tried including the target path? e.g. file://c:\windows\explorer.exe?

Might work - not sure tho.

If you're not linking to a specific document, why not try linking to a blank document that you create - call it blanktemplate.doc or something, and link to this instead of the actual application?

    Intranets

    Hi glynd

As an intranet developer myself I would agree with murphyz.

If there is no existing document and they need to be able to create one, short of opening the program from windows then adding a blank word/excel document to be linked to is fine.

As use increases and people start asking for functionality then you can look at other ways round, example asp forms to email or databases.

    Good luck.
