    CSS for paragraph indents

    Hi

    I'm just getting the idea of hand-coding CSS now (following Mulders excellent stylesheet tutorial on webmonkey!) and am so far trying to put it into practice wherever I can.

    I'm trying to put an e-book together for a friend who writes short stories and i want to use CSS to get better control over the typography.

    Heres a link to the first page... im using (non-existent!) spacer GIFs to make the paragraph indents, but Im sure there must be some way using CSS to get rid of these and indent the first line of each paragraph...

    Also, if anyone could suggest some good (free!) e-books i could take a look at the format? Im not sure what the best look would be i.e. how wide, how long each page etc.

    PS its as bland as anything, theres nothing except badly aligned text, but im using this ebook as an exercise so the priority is to get the text nice like in a real book

    also... anyone tell me why me line spacing can seem uneven...???

    for example, the 1st and 2nd lines in the 4th paragraph seem closer together for some reason.

    Any ideas?

    p {
    text-indent:100px;
    }

    And as for the uneven line-spacing, I think it's an optical "error"..

    thanks a lot, thats it sorted, now i can start looking into how to present the whole page, great.

    i don't think it was a visual error tho... looking at it now, using just css to indent, the inconsistency is gone!!! maybe it was the GIF spacer or something..? who knows.

    At least its OK now. Cheers!

    PS anyone, im still interested in seeing some nice Ebooks if anyone knows any...
